Beta Collection — shooting the Bledlard drop outdoors

The Beta collection was shot outdoors on purpose. Studio product photography sells a garment; location photography sells the idea of wearing it. This drop needed both from the same day.

Why outside

Bledlard pieces are made to be worn in the places the label comes from, not against seamless white. Shooting on location put the clothes in real light and real texture — walls, dust, late sun — and gave the campaign somewhere to live.

The trade is control. Outdoors you are negotiating with the weather and the clock, so the plan has to be tighter, not looser.

Two jobs, one day

Every setup had to deliver twice: a clean enough frame for the storefront, and a looser one for the feed. We shot them back to back rather than treating the campaign as an afterthought at the end of the day.

Light

Natural light did most of the work, shaped rather than replaced. The grade came later and stayed close to what the day actually looked like — warm ground, cool shadow, nothing pushed so far that the garment colour stops being true.

Colour accuracy matters more than mood on a product page. Someone is going to receive this piece in a box and compare it to the photo.

What we would do again

Shoot the campaign frames first, while the light and everyone in it are still fresh. The clean catalogue frames are the ones you can grind out at the end of the day; the loose ones are not.
